🏠 New homes for battery engineers - part 1
Thinking about ways to help in light of recent news on layoffs and bankruptcies. Over the last 12 months, there’s been a handful of bankruptcies and layoffs, unfortunately.
The impact on teams is something we deeply empathize with. Intercalation Station are saddened to see our colleagues in the battery community have their jobs terminated so suddenly. To help with the transition to new roles, we’re putting together a little open call, whether you’re a job seeker interested in putting your details down, or you’re hiring for a new position in your team, we’re hoping to connect the dots.
There were a lot of replies so we may do this in multiple parts and post periodically.
💼 Hiring for a role
Brian McCarthy (State College, PA) - EC Power is looking for a battery scientist or engineer skilled at cell design and testing to manage a new customer R&D project. Successful applicants are expected to be familiar with our core technology. The role is expected to start in early/mid-summer 2024.
James Mosby (Nevada and Kansas) - Panasonic Energy North America is always looking for good engineers and other professional in Li-ion Industry.
Fiona Coomer (Cambridge, UK) - Looking for a Senior Scientist to join the R&D team at Echion Technologies. We're looking to hire someone with industrial experience, who also has expertise in new battery materials innovation and solid-state materials chemistry.
Ryan Spray (Michigan) - Senior-level consulting role in the field(s) of electric vehicles; electric powertrains, batteries, cells and BMS, failure analysis, safety assessments as well as R&D support for clients. You will ultimately have the opportunity to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.

Neal Cardoza (open to relocation) - My background encompasses cathode active materials for Li-S and Li-ion with my PhD work and my time at the Bosch battery team. My PhD has also focused on anode-free lithium metal cells with new 1D nanomaterials. Currently seeking a full-time role as a Battery Scientist, dedicated to advancing cutting-edge solutions for a brighter future.
Angela Harper (open to relocation) - I have a PhD in computational physics with expertise in machine learning, data analytics, and computational chemistry. I have focused on modeling battery materials and am looking to work in a company that applies machine learning to problems within the battery industry.
Muntasir Shahabuddin (Massachusetts) - My background is in cell design and continuum modeling of cells (in the area of cell geometry optimization/electrochemical engineering), as well as computational materials design (catalyst design and electrochemical engineering). I also have practical experience in slurry electrode design and process scaleup (rheological and electrochemical behavior testing).
Dustin Abele (Raleigh, North Carolina) - Material Chemist with a focus on the green synthesis of graphite from biomass for use in Li-ion batteries. Looking for a full-time position as a research scientist or quality manager for a Li-ion battery manufacturer or startup.
Cèsar Arauzo Llobet (Mannheim, Germany) - I've worked for Innolith S&T as a Project Engineer in Battery Design. Looking for similar roles in the development of cells, and improvement of processes and components.
Soham Dange (open to relocation) - As a graduate student pursuing an MS in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, specializing in Automotive and EV industries with 4-years of industry experience, I am poised to graduate in May 2024. I am actively seeking full-time opportunities in the dynamic field of battery engineering, particularly in roles centered around battery modeling and simulation, as well as battery module mechanical design.
Conner Charles (West Haven, UT, open to relocation) - Full Stack Software Engineer with 6 years of experience in a variety languages, frameworks, databases, and technologies. I'm looking for a senior/experienced position (full stack preferred but can be strictly one sided) where I can use my expertise.

Eric Fell (Boston, MA, open to relocation)- Electrochemical engineer and battery data scientist with a PhD from Harvard University and over a decade of experience with electrochemical testing and modeling for flow batteries, Li-ion, electrocatalysts, and fuel cells. Looking for senior electrochemical testing/modeling role bridging high-throughput experiments, accelerated materials discovery etc.
