📚 A book about batteries
I enjoyed Wendy Papakostandini and Andrew Weng’s podcast on talent development on how we educate technical leaders. Andrew has also launched a new course at the University of Michigan on battery manufacturing (see our article here), to bridge the gap between theory and the factory floor. They are both doing great things.
I’ve been fascinated by early education, how a single childhood moment can imprint itself so deeply that it shapes how we see the world and influences our future career choices. I remember sitting in a gym sauna (I was probably around 8) as my dad explained how hot air rises and cold air sinks. That stuck with me and, maybe beneath the surface of my 8-year old brain, influenced me going into STEM as a teen.
Learning about climate and energy should start as early as possible, when memories are sticky and a single story can shape a lifetime.
This summer, Darren Lim and I co-authored a playful little book about batteries for curious kids (and perhaps grown-ups too!) to make clean energy feel fun and memorable, even if you're just learning your ABCs.
